It’s not easy to understand what art exhibition is now for me, a contemporary artist, after 2020:
The conceptual concept of the “Home sweet home” project, which took place at the Zverev Center for Contemporary Art Museum, is a home space.

This exhibition brought together works by contemporary artists, inspired by the time spent at home. It has become much more in our lives, it seems to have grown to the fore, to become a figure, a significant factor in our daily flow.

Elena Blagos: "Over the past year, I have spent so much time in my house that I have never spent. Life has practically moved to the deck of a ship-house with all the creativity and experimentation. I never thought that my favorite place would be the kitchen, which turns out to be unlimited. I learned to bake bread, which was an extraordinary skill for me, to anneal on a gas stove and temper copper, to measure, weigh and prepare all kinds of chemical solutions. - everything is possible within the boundaries of the kitchen. Oddly enough, art objects can be born in the kitchen and spread throughout the house ... "

A video taken with an iPhone, at first glance, ordinary home activities: kneading dough with hemp flour, blending jam, feeding a wild pigeon with a baby sock, cooking sausages in a transparent kettle, pumping sulfuric acid with a medical pump, observing a new variety of jellyfish, cleaning dishes from silicone dough. The context develops like a Gaussian curve, evolves and transforms in the contradictory metanarrative of getting pleasure from the ordinary as the artist’s priority resource. The development of parallel reality in everyday life as a mechanism of self-identification and an attempt to impart meaning to seemingly disparate oscillations.
Elena Blagos, an admirer of Carlos Castaneda, explores the mechanisms of the emergence of mental boundaries in her metamodern creativity, while often using mystification, in the genre of “pseudoscience art” she invented. Non-existent processes, research, pseudoscientific discoveries, agreements of a narrow circle of initiates create the illusion of permission and explore the fine line beyond which there is a point of no return.
